Unauthorised reproduction of copyrighted test material is an issue of great concern for the test publishing community. Firstly, respecting copyright allows the authors of test instruments to receive recognition and royalties due to them, facilitating further research, updates and new test development. Secondly, the quality of copied material detracts from the professional appearance of test material, and can often create difficulty in reading and understanding content due to poor legibility. This can have a detrimental effect on the face validity of an instrument as well as on the reliability of results.
